How to Keep your Car Cool During Summer

Summer is coming, and well, we don’t know about you, but we’re excited! Endless sunshine, spending time outdoors (social distancing style – of course) and enjoying all the delicious summer foods. Ahh, just thinking about it is making us excited! Although we love all the great things summer brings, the one thing we don’t necessarily enjoy is how hot and unpleasant your vehicle can get. It can get very uncomfortable and oftentimes, unbearable with the heat. Here are 5 tips to keep your car cool during the summer:

  1. Park in a Shady Area
This tip may be an obvious one, but one that gets forgotten easily! When parking your vehicle, look for shady/covered areas. This will allow your car to stay cool throughout the parking duration. You could park under a tree, underground, in shady areas – anywhere that will limit sun from coming into your vehicle.

  2. Use a Sunshade or Window Visor
One of the best ways to keep the sun out of your vehicle is by using windshield and window visors. Using a visor will reflect the sunshine to keep it out of your car, and allow it to stay as cool as possible. We also recommend using window visors on each window!

  3. Cover your Steering Wheel, Dashboard and Seats
Covering all visible areas such as your steering wheel, dashboard and seats are very important. The last thing you want to do is get into your car, and touch a scorching hot steering wheel or touch the metal part on your seat belt (ouch)! Covering these areas will reduce how hot the surface can get, and allow you to be more comfortable when driving.

  4. Park your vehicle in the Garage Overnight
If your home has a garage, we highly recommend parking your vehicle there overnight. This is the most effective way to keep your car cool for your morning drive.
  5. Use your Air Conditioner
One benefit of owning a modern vehicle is that it most likely has air conditioning! Don’t be afraid to use your air conditioner to cool down your vehicle, and keep it cool during the duration of your drive. It may take a few minutes to fully kick in, but once it does – it feels amazing.

Keeping your car cool during the summer heat is very important. The last thing you want is to get sick or overheat while driving.
