Springtime is here, the birds are singing, the water is defrosting and so is your car! We love the spring time and are so excited for the warmer weather. This is the perfect time to give your car a little update and make sure it’s ready for that lovely spring weather. We’ve got 4 tips you need to get your car all ready to embrace the new season and make the most of your springtime.

1. Change your tires

Hurray, the snow and ice are gone! Embrace the change and get those noisy snow tires off your vehicle. Infact, all seasons, all weather, and summer tires actually work better in the warmer weather than snow tires do. So stay safe and bring your car into the shop for a tire change and save them for next winter!

2. Check your Fluids

With the melting snow and ice also comes the mud. Top up your windshield washer fluid to make sure you don’t get caught without it when you’re driving down the road. Dirty windshields aren’t just annoying, they’re dangerous! So get that washer fluid topped up, and while you’re under the hood check your engine oil and take it in to be changed if it’s coming due or is running low.

3. Examine your headlights & windshield

Gravel on the roads in winter can wreak havoc on your vehicle. Getting a rock tossed up by a passing vehicle can result in a cracked windshield or broken headlight, amongst other unfortunate damage. Give your car a once over and check to make sure you have no chips in your windshield or on your lights. This is also the perfect time to check for burnt bulbs. If you notice a light is out or you’ve got a chip in your windshield make sure you book an appointment sooner rather than later.

4. Check your brakes

After a winter of braking on ice and snow, it’s a good idea to look at your breaks to check for wear and tear. Brakes should be checked every 6 months or 25,000 miles and spring is a perfect time to make an appointment, because all that salt can also cause damage to your brakes. It’s better to get them checked over than to realize they’re not as good as you thought they were when you need them most.

Take it from the experts and give your car a once over this spring to check for any damage caused by the winter driving conditions and ensure it’s ready to go for the new season! If you find something’s amiss bring it in to Warrenton Auto and we’ll get it fixed up and back on the road in no time! Book your appointment today.
